About Us

Who are we?

I’d hope you already know who we are but if not, I suppose I could tell you a little about us…

Where we’re at

Michael was born in Utah but was raised in California. Ava was born in Haiti but moved to the U.S. after her adoption. Both Michael and Ava are currently attending college full-time at Utah State University. Michael is a Junior studying Mechanical Engineering with an emphasis in Aerospace Engineering. He’s also in the Air Force ROTC (Reserve Officers’ Training Corps) and plans to commission into the Space Force post-graduation. Ava is a Freshman studying Nursing and is hoping to go into Labor and Delivery or Neonatal care post-graduation.

Our Hobbies

Michael enjoys hiking, biking, backpacking, camping, and running (he generally just really enjoys being outdoors and taking full advantage of all that nature has to offer). Hmm, let’s see what else… I mentioned before that he’s studying Engineering, so yup you guessed it, he enjoys just about anything Engineering related. He loves working with his hands, building things, coding, and working on computers. And as for Ava, napping and eating as much potato salad as her stomach can handle are her passions. Some of her other hobbies include reading, watching tv shows/movies, hanging out with friends, and spending quality time with her best friend and future husband, in her free time, she enjoys annoying the heck out of Michael and occasionally hiking with him, which often includes lots of complaints about how long the hike is (yay for a calm and very patient man). We enjoy cooking, baking, reading, watching shows/movies together (which at times Michael will finish without me). Can you tell who the more active/sporty one is?

Our Love Story

We met 3 years ago in Oregon after his mission at a Young Single Adults activity through our church. We started as friends and our bond grew through a Harry Potter movie marathon with a group of friends where he would constantly fall asleep on Ava’s shoulders without fail (yay for early morning jobs). He’d also shield Ava from the scary snakes (cause your girl was terrified of snakes) and from there the rest is history.
